NTT East Global Leadership at Oceanway

Great day Tuesday at Oceanway demonstrating to Japanese engineers from the NTT Global leadership event how Music City uses digital technology, WiFi and the internet. Mackenzie Morgan performed live to Facebook using Ustream as everyone watched and posted comments on their iPads and iPhones. They went to D.C. (not de capo) the next day to meet with Vint Cerf, one of the founding fathers of the internet. Thank you Eko and Nari Ishii for a very interesting and rewarding day!

It’s one thing to admire two really talented women, but it’s much cooler to spend the day writing a great song with them! Liz won P. Diddy’s Starmaker Reality TV show on MTV recently, and now she’s talking with record labels in Nashville about a country deal, and focusing her attention on writing. Amanda is a dynamic performer and writer in Nashville, having most recently co-written Lyric Street Record’s Tyler Dickerson single “Tell Your Sister I’m Single” . Check these girls out – they’re both making some great music!

Who is America’s guardian?

We the people. Are we taking care of America? In other words – are we taking care of ourselves, each other? Are we responsible for each other? It seems obvious that we don’t all like or agree with each other, and people have varying degrees of compassion and tolerance. But what are our civic duties as Americans? We care so much about our rights, our freedom – our individual beliefs and choices. We allow the media to focus on and editorialize the issues, derive our collective judgment of our leaders through polls and talk shows. The nature of this situation is that we believe what we already believed, and deem the truth to be that which comports with those beliefs, not knowing which facts from the spewing millions of sources are indeed trustworthy. We are a nation of differences, protected by our Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. If what we have in common is that we are Americans – what does that mean?

Mackenzie Morgan

Mackenzie Morgan has already had more experience entertaining audiences than someone twice her age. She is so confident, and her voice so pure and full that it makes everything she sings meaningful and compelling. She has a repertoire of classic songs, but she has also become a very good songwriter, with lyrics that speak of youthful themes, as well as deeper emotions. Paul Jefferson is one of those writers that makes you laugh, then he makes you think. His lyrics seem like they’re country, but they’ve got an eclectic twist to them that makes them sophisticated – he calls it “hilljack”, and he even has a band by that name. Paul wrote a hit for Aaron Tippin with a song called “As Close As I’ll Get To Loving You”, and he wrote “You’re Not My God” with Keith Urban for Keith’s first album. Lauren Lucas is a soulful singer from Columbia, South Carolina. She writes her own style of Southern Soul, and is a favorite performer in Nashville.
